Yael was born in Finland and raised in Berlin by a family of Finnish and Israeli origins.

Her mother was a Fashion Designer and her father a Filmmaker, as a result Yael has been strongly influenced by film and fashion from an early age. Her youth was spent watching her mother design beautiful knitwear collections and living in a dream-world of movies. Her favorite directors were Louis Bunuel, John Cassavettes, Woody Allen, and Jean-Luc Godard. She was particularly inspired by artists who lived and worked in New York, which to this day has remained the city of her dreams and led her to move to America where she began to study Graphic Design and Photography, eventually pursuing a career in Fashion Styling. Yael's unique aesthetic instinct and keen knowledge of fashion history, modern design, and colour brings visual focus to every project. She is well respected for her visionary eye and great sense of style. Her work has appeared in a wide spectrum of editorial and advertising campaigns such as BCBG, Banana Republic, Dockers, Earl Jeans, Levis, O'Neill, Nike, Mercedes Benz, Nordstrom, and Pottery Barn. She has also been featured in magazines such as Bazaar Spanish, Cosmo, Details, Dwell, and Vanity Fair.
